TalkSPORT claim West Ham could make a late move to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek despite the England international becoming more and more important to the Blues midfield in recent months.

The 26-year-old was a substitute against Everton but started and finished the 2-2 draw with Tottenham. He was superb in the feisty encounter, and as things stand, Chelsea would surely prefer to keep the England international.

Conor Gallagher continues to be linked with a move, despite being told he is going nowhere. Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante picked up another injury against Spurs. £150k-a-week Loftus-Cheek is becoming a big part of Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Nevertheless, West Ham want to sign him. They have been linked previously, but with two weeks left to run in the window, David Moyes is keen to add to his six summer signings. Midfielders are needed, and Loftus-Cheek is a target.

West Ham could make Loftus-Cheek move before deadline

While Loftus-Cheek is currently being used by Tuchel, the England man will be thinking it has happened before. He gets into the team, has perhaps a run of 10 games, and then is dropped to the bench and ousted.

If West Ham are serious, he really needs to consider it. It would be a brilliant move. Allows him to remain in London, a club with European football, and he would start plenty of games. With the World Cup incoming, he could make it.

The Hammers have waved goodbye to Mark Noble after the ex-captain’s retirement. Alex Kral offered depth while on loan, but he is now at Schalke. They are yet to bring in any new midfielders. That is likely to be a priority.

Loftus-Cheek is hardly going to be allowed to go on loan again. But a permanent move could be allowed if the price is right. It depends how much Chelsea want for their academy product.
