Tottenham want Ruslan Malinovskyi and he would be reuniting with a familiar face in Cristian Romero if a £15m deal materialises.

Tottenham have enjoyed a strong window this summer but may still be in the market for an attack-minded midfielder.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Yves Bissouma are all talented midfielders, but they’re not particularly advanced or creative.

A number 10 could be an ideal addition to the Tottenham squad and after links to Christian Eriksen faded away, it looked like Spurs wouldn’t be making such a signing.

Instead, Tottenham are now looking towards an attacking midfielder in the final stages of the window.

Tottenham want Ruslan Malinovskyi

Reports from Tutto Atalanta on Tuesday suggested that Tottenham were closing in on a deal to sign Atalanta playmaker Malinovskyi.

It was suggested that Malinovskyi fancies the move and Tottenham were focusing on a loan with option to buy.

Calciomercato now have an update, stating that Tottenham are leading the race for Malinovskyi and value him around €18million (£15million).

Reports from Italy indicate that the Ukrainian has a real chance of heading to North London – and that would see him reunite with Romero.

Tottenham raided Atalanta to sign Romero last summer in a loan-to-buy deal, with history potentially repeating itself with a similar deal for Malinovskyi.

Malinovskyi joined Atalanta in the summer of 2019, just a year before Romero joined the club on loan from Juventus.

The pair featured together prominently during the 2020-21 season, playing 36 times together with just six defeats in that time as well as 22 victories.

That should excite Tottenham fans as the pair potentially gear up to reunite, and it’s clear that Malinovskyi is still a huge fan of Romero.

After Romero excelled in Tottenham’s win at Manchester City back in February, Malinovskyi tweeted the defender to praise his mentality.

Tottenham could now bring the pair back together, with £15m a potential bargain for the playmaker known for scoring long-range screamers on his left foot.
