According to a report by the London Evening Standard, Neal Maupay’s preference would be to join Nottingham Forest as the likes of Everton and Fulham compete for his signature.
The Brighton striker has been the subject of a lot of speculation over the past few days, and while it’s unclear where the Frenchman will end up, his number one choice is Nottingham Forest.
This comes just days after reports emerged stating that Maupay had direct conversations with Frank Lampard about a move to Everton, but it seems as though the Toffees’ boss was unable to convince Maupay to prioritise a move to Goodison Park.
It’s hard to blame Maupay for wanting this move to Forest.
The Tricky Trees have shown a ridiculous amount of ambition this summer, signing over a dozen players to bolster their squad including England internationals, Champions League regulars and proven Premier League talent.
Forest really look to be going places, and we can’t blame any player for choosing a move to the City Ground over Everton right now.
The Toffees are still in turmoil, and while Maupay may be guaranteed minutes at Everton, it’s not ideal to be playing for a team that will most likely be battling relegation again this season.
Of course, finances will play their part here, and after Forest signed Emmanuel Dennis they may not be in the market for a new striker.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as three clubs eye up the ‘fantastic’ Brighton ace.
