Everton want Neal Maupay and he has spoken to Frank Lampard about making the move to Goodison Park this summer.
The Toffees have added the likes of Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre, Amadou Onana and Dwight McNeil in what is becoming a strong window.
Yet the top priority is clear; Everton simply have to sign a new striker this summer.
Richarlison has been sold to Tottenham Hotspur whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently out injured.
Frank Lampard needs new attacking options and it’s imperative that at least one striker arrives in the coming weeks.
Everton want Neal Maupay
One target for Everton is Brighton and Hove Albion striker Maupay, who looks set to leave in the coming weeks.
Brighton have added a new striker of their own in German hitman Deniz Undav, and Maupay is seemingly available.
The Athletic now report that Maupay has spoken directly with Everton boss Lampard about making the move to Merseyside.
Nottingham Forest and Fulham are both interested in Maupay too, meaning Everton face a real fight for his signature.
Maupay will allegedly cost around £15million and Everton will hope that the personal touch from Lampard can see this deal home.
The Frenchman was actually a target for Rafael Benitez last summer but Everton couldn’t secure his signature.
Brighton boss Graham Potter has hailed Maupay as ‘fantastic’ and he has been a decent goalscorer over the years for Albion.
Maupay has scored eight goals in his last two Premier League seasons and 10 in the campaign before that, whilst his record of 37 goals in 85 Championship games for Brentford was hugely impressive.
Maupay may not be the first choice in the minds of Everton fans but he has been a solid Premier League goalscorer and could give the Toffees that extra firepower they’re seeking.
