Real Madrid could now reportedly sell winger Marco Asensio this summer, with Liverpool and Newcastle United two sides linked with the Spanish international in recent weeks.
According to Mundo Deprortivo, the reigning UEFA Champions League champions have now opened the door for Asensio to leave, with Carlo Ancelotti allowing the player himself to decide what he wants to do this summer with the attacker’s contract set to expire next year.
Liverpool and Newcastle have both been reportedly looking at signing Asensio this summer, but as of yet, no side or club, in general, is yet to make an offer for the Mallorca-born superstar, with Madrid believed to value the 25-year-old winger at £35m.
One of Madrid’s most decorated players in recent memory and far from the peak of his career, the decision to sell Asensio could come as a surprise to some fans, especially with the attacker still only 26-years-old, yet this update could be a huge boost for Liverpool and Newcastle in the final week of the transfer window.
Both clubs are reportedly interested in signing a versatile forward, and with Madrid now open to selling Asensio, either Liverpool or Newcastle could swoop in to recruit the La Liga star, who was labelled as ‘extraordinary’ by manager Carlo Ancelotti earlier this year.
Indeed, whilst Asensio might now be available, that doesn’t necessarily mean either Premier League side will move for the Madrid star, mainly due to the initial transfer fee Los Blancos are demanding as well as the hefty wages the Spanish international will likely demand should an offer come in for the winger.
Madrid could struggle to sell Asensio this summer despite interest

As mentioned, the entire financial package for Madrid to sell Asensio could make a potential transfer near-impossible this summer even with interest from the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle, and for the Spanish giants, this could mean having to wait until January to offload the winger for a cheap fee.
Whilst this situation is hardly ideal, Madrid are in a financial position where they are not desperate to sell, meaning that January can roll around with Asensio still in the squad and Ancelotti will likely still be in a position where he does not need to sell too many players.
