Atalanta’s Serie A playmaker Ruslan Malinovskyi is ‘not considering’ a move to Nottingham Forest due to offers from elsewhere in the Premier League, Ukrainian reporter Viktor Vatkso says on his YouTube channel.
On Friday afternoon, Malinovskyi’s wife posted a rather intriguing photo on her Instagram account. One which appeared to show the Ukraine international’s family packing up their belongings ahead of a potential departure from Bergamo.
But if we assume an Atalanta exit is only a matter of time, where Malinovskyi ends up next is less certain.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Nottingham Forest are offering £12 million for the 29-year-old. Steve Cooper’s big-spending side have already signed Malinovskyi’s former La Dea team-mate Remo Freuler, with a reunion on the banks of the River Trent potentially on the cards.
But Forest, Vatsko says, are not the only Premier League club courting one of the best strikers of a ball anywhere in Europe; A man who could have put together his very own Goal of the Season competition across 2021/22.
Nottingham Forest want Atalanta ace Ruslan Malinovskyi
“As far as I know, the option with Nottingham Forest is not (being) considered by Malinovskyi,” begins Vatsko. “Because he has specific offers from Premier League clubs who have a much higher level of ambition compared to the EPL rookie.
“In addition to the English Premier League, there are also options from good clubs from France’s Ligue 1. That’s why Ruslan is currently in the negotiation process. The transfer process is ongoing.”
Former Genk ace Malinovskyi has reached double figures for goals in three of the last four seasons, his traction engine of a left boot striking fear into the heart of opposition goalkeepers across Italy and Belgium.
The identity of those mystery suitors, however, remains unknown. Everton, Leeds United and West Ham were linked back in 2021.
“As long as the market is open, requests arrive every day,” Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said of Malinovskyi.
“You have to be open to everything. With the market open until September 1st, it is normal for there to be sudden situations like Freuler.”
