Everton want Idrissa Gueye and the Paris Saint-Germain ace has rejected a late proposal from Nottingham Forest in favour of joining the Toffees again.

The Toffees are set to land one Ligue 1 midfielder with Lille star Amadou Onana on the verge of arriving after snubbing West Ham United.

That’s a huge boost to Everton’s engine room but Frank Lampard may still add more quality to that area of the pitch.

Lampard was a top midfielder in his playing days and now wants to see top-level play there in his managerial role, meaning another addition is on the cards.

Everton want Idrissa Gueye

Paris Saint-Germain ace Idrissa Gueye has been linked with Everton for the last week or so and the Toffees appear to be closing in.

Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Everton were discussing the final details of a deal to bring Gueye back to Merseyside.

Gueye actually wanted to stay at PSG according to reports in France, but news of Every’s interest meant he changed his mind.

Gueye seemingly wants a return to Goodison Park three years since leaving for PSG.

Foot Mercato now claim that Gueye has rejected a rival offer from Nottingham Forest in favour of heading back to Everton.

Forest are chasing another midfield addition and seemingly looked towards Gueye, but they haven’t been able to convince him.

That emotional pull of going back to Everton seems to be the main thing for Gueye, and he’s pushing for the move.

Gueye, 32, played 108 times for Everton having joined from Aston Villa for a bargain £7million fee back in 2016.

Everton racked up more than £20million in profit on Gueye as PSG pounced to bring the former Lille man back to France in a £30million raid.

Having Gueye’s experience and Premier League know-how next to a top young talent in Onana could be perfect for Everton, and seeing just how much the PSG man wants the move is ideal too.
