Leeds United want Philipp Max and they may now be boosted with Hoffenheim instead set to sign RB Leipzig left back Angelino.
The Whites are focusing on signing a striker whilst veteran goalkeeper Joel Robles looks set to join on a free transfer.
Yet there is also a focus on a new left back after Junior Firpo’s injury in pre-season – and, if we’re honest, his far-from-impressive debut season.
Pascal Struijk started at left back against Wolves but that isn’t really his position, so Leeds may need to go and find another option.
Leeds United want Philipp Max
An interesting name emerged last week as Leeds were linked with a move to sign PSV Eindhoven star Philipp Max.
Tuttomercatoweb reported last week that Leeds had launched a bid of €8million (£7million) to bring Max to Elland Road.
Max, 28, has been known as a very attack-minded left back during his spells with Augsburg and PSG, impressing with his ability to set up goals.
The German international can offer a quality option going forward and would help take some pressure off Struijk and Firpo.
Just a couple of days ago, German outlet Kicker reported that Leeds faced a battle for Max because Hoffenheim were in the race to sign him.

Hoffenheim have sold star left back David Raum to RB Leipzig and now need to find a replacement.
Max would have fit the bill for Hoffenheim, especially in terms of his attacking ability, and a return to Germany may haver been very appealing to him.
Yet it now looks like Hoffenheim will be signing Angelino instead, with RB Leipzig set to send a left back to Hoffenheim after snapping up Raum from them.
Fabrizio Romano reports that everything is now in place for Angelino to join Hoffenheim on loan with an option to buy for €20million (£17million).
Leeds’ main rival for Max now appears to be out the picture, and the door seems to be open for Victor Orta to push for a deal this summer.
