Leeds United want Ismaila Sarr as the Whites continue to look at potential additions out wide after the sale of Raphinha to Barcelona.

The Whites allowed Raphinha to complete a big-money, dream move to Barcelona this summer after weeks, even months of rumours.

Leeds were seemingly ahead of the game though as they had already secured the signing of Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra.

You may assume that Leeds were done targeting wingers, but a new rumour has emerged suggesting the complete opposite.

Leeds United want Ismaila Sarr

Foot Mercato in France report that Leeds are interested in signing Watford ace Ismaila Sarr this summer.

It’s also added that Leeds still fancy signing PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo, hinting that another move for a winger is on the cards.

The fear there is that Leeds are targeting another winger because somebody is leaving Elland Road before the transfer deadline.

Jack Harrison has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United and Sarr may well be eyed up to replace him rather than Raphinha.

Sinisterra prefers to play down the left flank and cut in on his right foot, whilst Sarr is at his best on the right flank.

That’s a very interesting balance if Leeds do push for Sarr’s signature, but it still seems like a strange rumour right now.

Sarr, 24, played 22 Premier League games last season and bagged five goals as well as two assists.

The Senegal international has blazing speed and can cause mayhem in the final third; we have certainly seen that at Watford.

Ben Foster – who has also been linked with Leeds – has hailed Sarr as ‘frightening’ having witnessed him first-hand at Vicarage Road.

Liverpool looked closely at Sarr but allegedly backed away from him this summer amid fears over his ‘in-game intelligence’, which seems very harsh.

Liverpool were looking at Sarr as a possible replacement for Sadio Mane, who was far from the finished article when the Reds signed him from Southampton in 2016.

Mane took his game up a number levels under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp and Sarr certainly has the potential to do the same.

Liverpool seemingly felt that Sarr wasn’t right for them, but that means Leeds may now have a chance to stirke.

Sarr would certainly be an exciting target for Leeds, but unless Harrison is leaving and a deal is closer than being let on, a move to Elland Road doesn’t look imminent.
