Dusan Vlahovic has dubbed new Juventus team-mate Gleison Bremer ‘the best defender in Serie A’ after the £34 million Brazilian turned down Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport

You can count on one hand the amount of centre-halves who kept Vlahovic quiet over the last 18 months. Or perhaps even one finger.

And Juventus’ free-scoring number seven won’t be looking forward to those midweek training sessions as Bremer, who ‘destroyed’ Vlahovic during last season’s Turin derby, joins him in black-and-white stripes.

The former Torino talisman made the short trip across the city last week, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal after Juve agreed to pay their near neighbours a fee of £34 million.

This came after Bremer told Tottenham that he had no interest in leaving Italy for London, per Corriere dello Sport, with Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte losing out in a tug-of-war with their old employers.

“Bremer? It is a great pleasure to have him at Juve,” says Vlahovic.

The former Fiorentina talisman himself turned down a move to North London before joining Juventus.

“He is the best defender in Serie A,” Vlahovic adds.

Bremer – described as a £60 million footballer by Torino president Urbano Cairo before leaving the Granata for around half that fee – was also linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter Milan among others. His arrival at Juve offsets the departure of Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich.

“Physically, he is impressive,” adds Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny (Tuttosport).

“He’s a very calm boy. But, physically, he is a good player. The speed, the power he has; Really impressive.”

The right-footed Bremer would, in theory, have slotted in between Cristian Romero and Clement Lenglet in Conte’s three-man backline at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The revitalised Eric Dier should now fulfil that role instead.

Spurs have also missed out on South Korean giant Kim-Min Jae. Napoli confirmed his £16 million arrival from Fenerbahce on Wednesday lunchtime, via their official Twitter account.
