Reported Rangers target Darius Olaru is leaving FCSB for a fee of around £5 million, president Gigi Becali tells Sport Romania.

Over the weekend, as the Gers sealed a deal for Besiktas left-back Ridvan Yilmaz, Giovanni van Bronckhorst suggested their seventh signing of the summer may also be their last.

“We hope to add a new player (Yilmaz) in the coming days,” said the former Feyenoord boss, via the Scotsman. “And I think then we will be finished with the window if no one else goes.”

Those comments have not put an end to speculation linking Rangers with a couple of exciting, technically-gifted, ball-playing central midfielders however.

Reports in Turkey are suggesting that the Glasgow giants could raid Besiktas again for another Yilmaz; 21-year-old Kartal, this time.

According to ProSport, the Europa League finalists have sent scouts to watch Romania international Darius Olaru too.

And while the outspoken Becali shopped short of identifying Olaru’s destination, he did suggest that the stylish 24-year-old was on his way out of a club formerly known as Steaua Bucharest.

Could Darius Olaru end up at Rangers?

“It is about Olaru also going elsewhere,” says Becali, having agreed to reduce his initial £7 million asking price for a player likened to Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.

“I received 5 million euros but I did not accept. We asked for 7 million euros, but we left it at 6 million euros. I don’t want to talk more. You’ll see (where Olaru ends up).”

It is believed that initial ‘5 million euro’ offer came from a club in the Arabian Gulf. Serie A outfit Torino have also been linked, alongside a Rangers side who already have a talented Romanian playmaker in their squad; Ianis Hagi.

“I don’t know,” Olaru said recently when quizzed about those transfer links. “I saw it in the press. But I only knew that I had a match against Cluj and I wanted to win the match.

“What will be in the future, I do not know. For now, I’m here in the red-blue colours.”

According to ProSport, Olaru could bid farewell after FCSB’s clash with Sarburtalo on Thursday.
