Djed Spence has sent a message to Tottenham fans on Instagram, underlining his delight at penning a five-year deal with the North London club – and Everton ace Anthony Gordon has responded by congratulating the defender.

Spence, 21, has joined Spurs after shining for Nottingham Forest on loan last season. Joining the club from Middlesbrough for the 2021-22 campaign, he helped Steve Cooper’s side gain promotion to the Premier League.

The England Under-21 international was strongly linked with signing permanently with Forest. However, Spurs have lured the London-born defender back to his birth place, securing a deal worth £19million in total.

The Evening Standard report that Spurs will pay £12.5million up front, before a further £6.5million is due in add-ons related to performance. Spence took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to share his delight at signing for Spurs.

Spence message to Tottenham fans: Everton ace Gordon has responded

Spence becomes Tottenham’s sixth summer signing after deals for Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet. He provides some much-needed quality at right wing-back for Tottenham.

Reports state that Spurs and Fabio Paratici will now focus on exits at Spurs. Eight players could go – in Matt Doherty, Bryan Gil, Japhet Tanganga, Emerson Royal, Harry Winks, Gio Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Sergio Reguilon.

Plenty responded to Spence’s post. The likes of ex-Everton winger Yannick Bolasie was among those to react, as was Everton ace and Tottenham transfer target Gordon. The Toffees man is a £40million target for Spurs and Newcastle.
