Rangers wanted to sign Pablo Torre but lost out to Barcelona – and the Gers seem to have really missed out on a top talent.
The Gers have, just like any other team, missed out on signing many quality players over the years.
Who can forget Alex McLeish trying to sign Lionel Messi for Rangers after his son found him on Football Manager?
Messi went on to star for Barcelona, and it looks like Rangers have missed out on another future Camp Nou ace.
Rangers wanted to sign Pablo Torre
The Daily Record reported back in December that Rangers were keen on signing Torre from Racing Santander.
Torre had a £4million release clause in his Racing deal act the race was well and truly on for his signature.
Rangers ultimately ended up missing out though as Barcelona struck a deal.
Xavi is understood to have personally convinced Torre to make the move to Catalunya; any young Spanish midfielder would be tempted by the prospect of playing for Xavi.
Torre has joined up with Barcelona this summer and the 19-year-old looks to be their next great midfielder alongside Pedri and Gavi.

Torre started for Barcelona against Olot in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday and earned huge praise.
Boss Xavi hailed Torre, admitting he has a ‘lot of talent’ whilst praising him for playing between the lines.
Catalan newspaper SPORT noted that Torre showed ‘some fine play’ in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw.
Barcelona’s Twitter account was all too happy to show off Torre’s impact, showing a clip of Torre turning, nutmegging an Olot midfielder and threading a perfect through ball to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang couldn’t find the right finish but the way Torre turned, accelerated away and found the pass was reminiscent of Barcelona midfielders gone by.
It’s only one friendly game, but the hype around Torre suggests that Rangers may well have missed out on a real gem.
