Manchester United have reportedly had initial discussions to sign VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic just weeks after Tottenham held talks with the towering Bundesliga superstar.

According to Sky Germany, Erik Ten Hag is very interested in signing the 25-year-old Austria international as United brace themselves for the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is reportedly open to leaving Old Trafford this summer after the club failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last season.

As per the report, Stuttgart are yet to receive an offer for Kalajdzic, though previous reports have claimed that Tottenham have recently held talks with the striker, with Antonio Conte a fan of the Bundesliga forward after an impressive season in the German top-flight.

At 6’7″, Kalajdzic is one of the tallest players in Europe’s top-five leagues, which makes his tally last season of six goals and two assists that more impressive and is a huge reason why the likes of Tottenham and now United are interested in signing the Austrian, as well as Bayern Munich according to reports.

Indeed, Kalajdzic’s physique makes the Austrian one of Europe’s most interesting strikers, and after an impressive season, it’s no wonder why United now want to sign the 25-year-old, who could be perfect for Ten Hag’s system despite recent talks with Tottenham.

Sebastien Haller was one of Europe’s best-performing strikers last season, and with a player like Kalajdzic, Ten Hag could get a similar tune out of the attacker if United are able to sign the Tottenham target, which could now be possible due to recent moves in the transfer market.

Fixing United is arguably one of the hardest jobs in all of sports, and replacing Ronaldo will be no easy feat for the Red Devils, with the 37-year-old still one of the best strikers in football, yet signing Kalajdzic could be a stroke of genius from Ten Hag given the attacker’s style of play.

Indeed, Ten Hag will likely mimic his Ajax system that worked wonders in the Netherlands, meaning that a towering attacker like Kalajdzic could be perfect to lead the line for United despite the obvious downgrade in quality from Ronaldo as well as interest from Tottenham.
