According to AS, Newcastle want to bring Marco Asensio to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Liverpool also interested.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that the Spain international is willing to take a pay cut to leave Real Madrid, with Mikel Arteta and Jürgen Klopp monitoring the situation.
Now, Eddie Howe is keen to sign Asensio, with the Spanish news outlet claiming that he wants the 26-year-old to be the face of his new project at St James’ Park.
The Real Madrid No.11 looks likely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu with his contract set to expire in June 2023, with Real Madrid yet to make any progress in tying him down to a fresh deal.
According to some sources, Asensio is available for £34.6m, which would be very affordable for the Magpies under their Saudi Arabian regime.
If a move does materialise, it would be some coup for Newcastle.

Asensio is a three-time Champions League winner, who has been a key player for one of the greatest Real Madrid sides ever over the course of the last few years.
In what could be his final season in Madrid, Asensio scored 12 goals in 42 appearances, while also providing two assists.
Newcastle could take huge step towards Arsenal & Liverpool
In our view, if Howe manages to beat Arteta and Klopp to Asensio, Newcastle’s European chasing side will seriously start to take shape.
Newcastle would then have the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier and Asensio, all of whom belong in the Champions League.

With a few more additions, the Magpies could then start to make a real push for the top four, but the signing of Asensio would be a serious statement from the Toon Army, to say the very least.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the Spaniard could soon leave Real Madrid.
