According to talkSPORT, Crystal Palace are now confident of beating Everton and Nottingham Forest to Morgan Gibbs-White.
What’s the story?
Well, the south Londoners are close to announcing the signing of Cheick Doucoure from RC Lens, with Swansea maestro Flynn Downes also on his way to SE25, according to the BBC.
However, Patrick Vieira is still not satisfied with his midfield department, and is now hopeful of securing a deal for Gibbs-White, who is also wanted by Southampton.
TalkSPORT believe Crystal Palace view the 22-year-old as a replacement for Conor Gallagher, who has returned to Chelsea after a stunning season-long loan at Selhurst Park last term.
Gibbs-White enjoyed a fine 2021/22 campaign as well, albeit in the Championship with Sheffield United, where he spent a season-long loan of his own from Wolves.
The England Under-21 international impressively scored 13 goals in 40 appearances from midfield, while also providing ten assists as the Blades reached the Championship play-off semi-finals.
Crystal Palace should leave Gibbs-White to Everton or Nottingham Forest

As talented as Gibbs-White is, we believe there are better ways for Crystal Palace to spend their money.
The Wolves gem will supposedly cost £20m, which is a significant amount of money for the Eagles.
Crystal Palace are already spending £22m on Doucoure, and look set to part with £8m for Downes.
When those deals go through, that will be £30m spent on two midfielders, who will compete with the likes of Ebere Eze, Jeffrey Schlupp, Will Hughes, James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic and Jairo Riedewald.

Seeing as Vieira tends to line up with just three central-midfield options, we can’t see where Gibbs-White would fit in given the sheer amount of competition already at Selhurst Park, unless he is viewed as a forward by the Eagles.
Nevertheless, Crystal Palace clearly have a plan, and in Gibbs-White, they would be adding another bright English talent to the likes of Tyrick Mitchell and Marc Guéhi – exciting times in SE25, to say the least.
