Mark Robins is not surprised to see Premier League clubs like Fulham, Southampton or Tottenham Hotspur show an interest in his Coventry City stars, speaking to the Coventry Telegraph.

Sky Blues supporters are finding out the hard way that there is a downside to punching above your weight.

A Coventry side who secured a highly-impressive top half finish last term – after flirting with the play-offs for much of the campaign – will be now counting down the seconds until the window closes as scouts continue to circle above the Ricoh Arena.

According to The Sun, Fulham have launched an enquiry for the £4 million-rated midfield dynamo Gustavo Hamer. Southampton like centre-back Michael Rose, per The Mirror.

And The Telegraph believe that Tottenham have been keeping tabs on former Aston Villa starlet Callum O’Hare; A graceful attacking midfielder who resembles Jack Grealish from his floppy locks to the number ten on his back.

But Robins is determined to see the positives as transfer speculation continues to dog Coventry’s pre-season preparations.

Coventry City facing Premier League raid

“I think the fact that our players are getting linked with other teams is testament to what they are doing and what we are doing,” says one of the EFL’s most respected tacticians.

“And that is the nature of the game. If they are doing well and have done well then teams will start to covet one or two of your players, and that’s going to be the case from now on.

“That’s a good thing. You know we are a team that develops people to try and move us forward. But also for their careers. (If they join Coventry) they may get up the ladder a little bit quicker.

“But at the moment there are no decisions to make and nothing to talk about, other than, yes, there will be interest and continued interest in our players that we should be happy about.”

When pressed further on reports suggesting Fulham have enquired about Hamer, Robins was rather less forthcoming.

“Nothing,” he said. “I can’t tell you anything about it.”

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are reportedly considering a move for O’Hare too. 18-goal top scorer Viktor Gyokeres, meanwhile, has admirers at Middlesbrough (Northern Echo).
