Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are still in contact with the agent of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Arsenal remain interested in signing Tielemans from Premier League rivals Leicester in the summer transfer window.
The Mirror (29/06, page45) reported that Arsenal have backed away from the Belgium international and signed Fabio Vieira from FC Porto instead.
Journalist Ryan Taylor of The Express also claimed last month that Arsenal have decided to abandon their pursuit of the 25-year-old midfielder.
However, according to Romano, Arsenal remain keen on the Belgian and are still in contact with his agent.

Arsenal still want Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans
Romano told GiveMeSport: “Arsenal are still in contact with his agent. Arsenal are still exploring this possibility for Youri Tielemans, but there has still not been an official bid to Leicester.”
Could a transfer happen?
In our opinion, Arsenal could still be able to sign Youri Tielemans from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
After all, it is only the first week of July.
There is still enough time for Arsenal and Leicester to get a deal done for the Belgian.
Arsenal will probably have to offload one or two of their midfielders to fund a move for Tielemans and make space in their squad.
We think that this transfer ‘saga’ will drag on until the final days of the summer transfer window.
