West Ham want Youri Tielemans and could make their move for the Leicester City midfielder after Arsenal appeared to back away.
The Hammers splashed the cash on defender Nayef Aguerd last week before securing Alphonse Areola permanently this week.
David Moyes now wants more signings and there have been strong links to both Jesse Lingard and Arnaut Danjuma this week.
Attacking reinforcements will be the priority but there could also be a huge midfield addition to come.
West Ham want Youri Tielemans
There are question marks over Tomas Soucek’s future at West Ham whilst Mark Noble has retired and Alex Kral’s loan spell is over.
West Ham need midfielder in central midfield and Moyes may have a big target in mind.
The Mirror (29/06, p45) report that West Ham are now ready to move into the race for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
It’s stated that Arsenal looked to be moving in for Tielemans but the Gunners instead went and signed Fabio Vieira from Porto.
What looked like a sure thing for Tielemans to join Arsenal is now up in the air, and West Ham are looking to swoop in.
Tielemans is out of contract in 2023 and Leicester may want to sell this summer rather than lose him for nothing in a year.
Moyes is ready to pounce with a move for Tielemans, which would be quite an ambitious pursuit.
Many expected 25-year-old Tielemans to be joining a Champions League club if he was to leave the Foxes this summer.
Yet that came down to a Europa League club in Arsenal and could now go down again to a Europa Conference League side in West Ham.
The Belgian international is clearly a talented player but the true elite of the Premier League don’t seem to be all that interested – and that could allow West Ham to benefit this summer.
