Kevin Campbell has said on Highbury Squad that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal did not sign Yves Bissouma before he moved to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur because the Gunners want to bring in Youri Tielemans from Leicester City.
Arsenal were linked with a move for Bissouma in the summer transfer window before the 25-year-old Mali international midfielder made the switch to North London rivals Tottenham from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Sky Sports reported in June that Arsenal wanted to sign Bissouma, but he went to Tottenham instead.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport that Arsenal are in contact with the agent of Tielemans and are exploring a deal for the Leicester midfielder, who earns £120,000 per week (SalarySport).
Arsenal didn’t sign Youri Tielemans because of Yves Bissouma
Former Arsenal striker Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “I think we bypassed Bissouma because we want Tielemans.

“We want more of a progressive player in that midfield, somebody who can do the job in midfield but somebody who is going to be a goal-threat.”
The Sky Sports pundit added: “I think personally Leicester are going to play hardball with Tielemans because they are going to want as much money as they can.”
Comparisons
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal are able to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
And, if the Gunners do manage to secure the services of the Belgium international, then there will be comparisons between Tielemans and Bissouma next season.
Bissouma has scored three goals and created four big chances in 112 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
Tielemans has scored 18 goals and created 23 big chances in 120 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
