Tottenham still fancy signing Pau Torres even though Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet seems to be closing in on a move.
Tottenham have made signing a new left-footed centre back a top priority this summer.
Ben Davies played well there last season but he needs competition for the left-sided role in Antonio Conte’s back three.
Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni was a top target whilst RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol has also been eyed up, but neither deal has been possible.
Tottenham have turned their attention to Lenglet but they may not be done shopping at the back just yet.
Tottenham still fancy signing Pau Torres
Reports last week suggested that Lenglet was on the verge of completing a move to Tottenham.
Mundo Deportivo have added that Lenglet is travelling to England for a medical today with a £4million loan deal agreed.
Tottenham will have a permanent option as part of the deal should Lenglet impress, which is no sure thing.
The French international has completely lost his form at Barcelona and Tottenham are backing him to rediscover his touch.
Lenglet is a naturally left-footed defender so will be able to go straight in and battle with Davies – but Tottenham still fancy more.
90Min claim that Tottenham still hold an interest in Villarreal defender Pau Torres despite Lenglet’s imminent move.
After missing out on Bastoni, the Daily Mail reported last month that Torres had become Tottenham’s new priority and a swap involving Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso was even mentioned.

A bid of £42.5million was launched in May according to reports in Spain but nothing really came of that.
When you factor in that Tottenham wanted Torres last summer too but he rejected the move, Spurs still fancying the Villarreal ace is no shock.
So could Tottenham still sign Torres as well as Lenglet?
It seems very unlikely but not completely impossible.
Joe Rodon is likely to leave this summer and Tottenham want two players for every position.
Davinson Sanchez could cover Cristian Romero on the right side whilst Lenglet would then be cheap backup for Eric Dier.
Torres would then battle with Ben Davies on the left side, solidifying the Tottenham back line and adding major competition for places.
It’s unlikely and potentially very expensive, but it’s one to keep an eye on given Tottenham’s long-standing admiration for Torres.
