Shaka Hislop has claimed that Newcastle United won’t sign Neymar from PSG because the club’s Saudi-led ownership won’t spend ‘the kind of money to bring him in’, as he told ESPN.
Neymar’s wages at PSG must be through the roof, with the Brazil star earning more than Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at a staggering £3.4 million per-month, as reported by talkSPORT.
Newcastle can put that sort of money down on the table, if they wish, but those at the top, now led by Dan Ashworth, are trying to be as sensible as possible in who they sign.

That was proven during the January transfer window when Newcastle wanted to bring Jesse Lingard on-loan from Manchester United, but the Magpies refused to bow down to the ridiculous financial demands of the Old Trafford-based club, as reported by David Ornstein at the time.
Whilst former Newcastle goalkeeper, Hislop, can ‘understand the link’ to Neymar, he shared what he noticed about the club when he paid them a visit in May.
“I don’t see that happening,” said Hislop. “I understand the link given the new ownership at Newcastle United and the speculation that came with that new ownership.
“But as I keep pointing out, I was there back in May and there is nothing and no-one at the club that the new owners are going to be spending the kind of money it would take to bring Neymar in.
“Everybody sees this as spending, but sensibly and growing the club slowly in that way. Neymar doesn’t tick any of the boxes that people within the club feel there would the direction.”

NEWCASTLE PROVING THEIR WORTH IN THE TRANSFER MARKET
Everybody knows Newcastle now have the money to splash, so from that perspective, they are going to put inflated prices and wages on whoever they try to sign.
But, during the January transfer window, and during the summer window, the Magpies are proving their worth in the market by not bowing down to stupid demands.
As soon as they do it once, it will only have a snowball effect and teams up and down the land will take them for a ride, but if Newcastle show that they aren’t to be messed with, then teams will stop trying to get that extra bit of dough from them.
Nonetheless, someone like Neymar simply isn’t going to don the famous black and white colours, but if Newcastle get back into the Champions League, sooner rather than later, then they can sign those big-name players again.
Until then, Eddie Howe and Co are focusing on signing superstars for the future, such as Dutch U21 defender, Sven Botman, following his transfer from Lille.
