Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are facing competition from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United for Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry, according to reports in The Sun and The Daily Star.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United eye Serge Gnabry
The Sun have reported that Manchester United and Manchester City are keen on signing former Arsenal winger Gnabry from Bayern in the summer transfer window.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Bayern are willing to sell the Germany international winger for £35 million.
The Daily Star have reported interest from Arsenal and Manchester United in Gnabry, described as “a fabulous player” who “makes good decisions” by former Bayern star Owen Hargreaves in The Daily Mail in August 2020.
This is not the first time that Arsenal have been linked with Gnabry.
Bild journalist Christian Falk reported in May that Arsenal are interested in re-signing Gnabry this summer.
Could a transfer to the Emirates Stadium happen?
In our opinion, Arsenal would find it tough to sign Serge Gnabry if Manchester City are involved in the race for the Bayern Munich winger.
Now, we know that the 26-year-old is a former Arsenal player who left the Gunners in 2016.
The winger may feel that he has unfinished business at Arsenal, but the Gunners are not in a position to challenge for the Premier League title anytime soon and will not even play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Manchester City won the Premier League title last season and compete in the UEFA Champions League on a regular basis.
In our view, a move to City would be more appealing to Gnabry than a transfer to the Gunners.
