Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry – but only as a replacement for Mohamed Salah amid contract uncertainty.

That’s according to a report from Goal, who claim that Gnabry is strongly considering leaving Bayern at the end of the season.

Gnabry is approaching the final year of his contract and Bayern have been desperately trying to get a new deal sorted.

Gnabry is now looking to leave though, seemingly having his head turned by interest from both Real Madrid and Liverpool.

It’s suggested that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of Gnabry and wants him to join – on one condition.

A move for Gnabry allegedly depends on Mohamed Salah’s future, with Gnabry only being eyed as a replacement for the Egyptian.

We will think Salah will end up staying put at Liverpool, so a deal to sign Gnabry is far from a sure thing.

Still, Gnabry is eyed up just in case Salah goes and that could be a very appealing option for the Reds.

Gnabry, 26, has smashed 14 goals and 10 assists for Bayern this season. Capable of playing on either flank or even up front, Gnabry offers outstanding versatility across the attack.

The German does also have interest from Real Madrid though, and it’s stated that Gnabry is very close with David Alaba – who swapped Bayern for Real last summer.

A move to Liverpool sounds a little tricky, especially as it depends on Salah’s future, but the Reds are a club to keep an eye on on the race for Gnabry.

One club who will find it tough is Tottenham, who also want Gnabry according to Bild.

It’s unlikely that Tottenham will be able to compete with Liverpool or Real for Gnabry, who has been hailed as ‘world class’ by Rio Ferdinand.

If the former Arsenal man is to return to England, Liverpool are a much more likely destination than Tottenham as things stand.
