Fulham are interested in signing Manchester United central defender Eric Bailly, who has been offered to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, according to 90min.
90min have reported that Fulham have spoken to Manchester United and have enquired about the availability of Bailly.
The report has claimed that the 28-year-old Ivory Coast international centre-back is free to leave the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.
Fulham would prefer a loan deal for Bailly, and talks are going on between them and Manchester United, according to the report.
The Cottager’s reported interest in Bailly comes just days after Newcastle were linked with the £80,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender.
According to The Mirror (print edition, page 76, June 19, 2022), Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Bailly.
Fulham or Newcastle United for Eric Bailly?
In our view, Fulham are now in a better position to sign Eric Bailly from Manchester United than Newcastle United.
Now, of course, Fulham are a promoted club, and there is a very good chance that the Cottagers will have to fight for survival in the Premier League next season.
That is unlikely to be appealing to Bailly, who has won the EFL Cup and the UEFA Europa League with Manchester United.
However, Newcastle are unlikely to make another centre-back signing right now.
After all, the Magpies have just signed Sven Botman from Lille.
Yes, PIF are wealthy owners, but they are unlikely to sign too many players for the same position.
