Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United central defender Eric Bailly in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror (print edition, page 76, June 19, 2022).

The report has claimed that Newcastle have been offered Bailly as an alternative to Sven Botman.

Newcastle are keen on signing Dutch centre-back Botman from Lille in the summer transfer window, but things are not progressing as well as they would have hoped.

Could Eric Bailly from Manchester United to Newcastle United happen?

In our view, Newcastle United could well be able to sign Eric Bailly from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

That the former Villarreal defender has been offered to the Magpies suggests that he is available for a transfer this summer.

The 28-year-old is not guaranteed a place in the Manchester United starting lineup, and he could be tempted to join a big club such as Newcastle who have wealthy owners now and have grand plans for the future.

Bailly made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Red Devils last season.

The defender has scored one goal in 70 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
