Well, it looks like Liverpool aren’t out of the running to sign reported Chelsea target Raphinha.
Liverpool haven’t been heavily linked with a move to sign the Leeds United winger for a while.
In that time, the emphasis has been on Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea potentially bringing the Brazil international to London.
However, Sport have claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s outfit remain firmly in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
The report cites Sadio Mane’s departure from Anfield as a motive in the Reds maintaining an interest in the red-hot winger.
Sport also claim that Barcelona is the player’s priority and has specifically asked his agent – Deco – to ‘stop Chelsea’s offensive’.
Clearly Raphinha has no interest in a transfer to Stamford Bridge so long as Barca are in the race to sign the former Rennes attacker, whom Leeds want around £65 million for.
Honestly, it isn’t unthinkable for Liverpool to still be in the race.
Klopp has lost two wingers this summer – Mane and Takumi Minamino – and none have come in.
Darwin Nunez is more of a number nine than a wide player and Fabio Carvalho is an attacking midfielder.
Mane has been a monstrous player for the German manager since joining in 2016 and somebody of Raphinha’s talents would absolutely fit the bill.
Problem is, there isn’t a lot of speculation about Liverpool actively signing another winger at the moment, barring this renewed speculation about the Leeds attacker.
But it’s something that definitely shouldn’t be ruled out, though it does seem like the player has his heart set on joining the Camp Nou outfit as things stand.
