Juventus will reportedly look to sign Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes if Matthijs de Ligt departs Turin this summer, with Chelsea the strong favourites to sign the Dutch international.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian giants have shortlisted both the 24-year-old Premier League centre-back as well as AS Monaco talent Benoit Badiashile as potential replacements for De Ligt, who has a reported release clause of €150m (£130m), though if the centre-back is to leave it will likely be for a much lower fee.

This is not the first time Gabriel has been linked with a move to Juventus this summer, with the Old Lady reportedly plotting a move to sign the Arsenal star earlier in the window, with FC Barcelona also interested in the former LOSC Lille star. who was sensational for the Gunners last season.

Whilst Arsenal will see William Saliba return to the first-team squad and reports of a move for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez are heating up, Gabriel will still likely remain in north London this summer and retain his starting position for next season.

Gabriel’s role as a left-footed centre-back has made the Brazilian an irreplaceable member of Mikel Arteta’ first-team plans, and despite renewed interest from Juventus, the Arsenal titan remains likely to stay in the Premier League for next season ahead of what is likely to be an exciting year for the Gunners.

Arsenal are planning towards something big for next season based on how ambitious Arteta and Edu Gaspar’s aims for this summer are, and with Gabriel a key pillar for the Gunners’ plans, the north London side should do all they can to stop Juventus from signing their star defender.

Indeed, Gabriel was one of Arsenal’s best players last season and was a monster for the Gunners in both defence and in the attack for set-pieces, and the club must shoot down any and all attempts from Juventus if they are to try and sign the Brazilian titan this summer.
