According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães has been offered to Barcelona, although Xavi could raid Chelsea instead.
What’s the story?
Well, the Spanish news outlet do not state that Arsenal themselves have offered the Brazilian to Barcelona – presumably, his agent has done so.
Nevertheless, it seems Barcelona are not going to take up the offer, due to economic and sporting reasons.
In regards to the latter, Barcelona have decided that Gabriel does not fit the profile they are searching for to reinforce Xavi’s backline.
Economically, the 24-year-old would also cost a significant sum, as he has three years remaining on the contract he signed after joining Arsenal for £23.14m in September 2020.
As a result, Barcelona are hoping to sign Cesar Azpilicueta instead, as the £7m Roberto Di Matteo signing’s contract ends in June 2023, which makes him a cheaper option.
Arsenal will be glad Barcelona are focusing on raiding Chelsea

In our view, Mikel Arteta will be glad to hear that Barcelona have no plans to sign Gabriel, as it would’ve signalled a setback in his project at the Emirates Stadium.
The South American has impressed alongside Ben White this season, and plays a key role in the Spaniard’s setup with his passing ability.
However, Arteta will presumably be a bit annoyed that someone is offering his players around Europe.

Arsenal have had enough issues with agents in the past, such as Kia Joorabchian, so the last thing they need is another problem.
Hopefully, the Gunners can keep their best players in north London, and build on what Arteta is creating at the Emirates Stadium.
