Juanfran has claimed that either Tottenham’s Emerson Royal or Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin would be ‘very good’ signings for Atlético Madrid.
In January, the La Liga giants sold Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United and his departure has left a void on the right-side of the club’s defence.
Even though Emerson has been in Tottenham colours for just 12 months, his name has been thrown about as possibly heading back home and joining up with Diego Simeone.

Another perhaps more likely transfer could be that of Bellerin, Arsenal loaned him out to Real Betis last season, but could he make a return to La Liga, but this time in the colours of Atlético?
Well, when Atlético legend Juanfran was asked about that possibility, he backed the idea, but warned that the individual coming in has to understand what the club is all about, as he told Mundo Deportivo.
“I am available, I wish I could be at the level that Atlético needs,” said Juanfran. “We need a minimal right back like Trippier. You don’t have to replace me, they were different times, but let a great right-back come.
On Emerson or Bellerin: “They are all very good. You have to do magic tricks to be able to sign, but all the teams are the same. Anyone who comes, who knows what Atlético is and what the mister (Simeone) wants, If they know how to grasp what the club is, they will do well here.”

WILL EMERSON AND BELLERIN BE IN NORTH LONDON NEXT SEASON?
Given that Bellerin was out on-loan last season, it clearly suggests that Mikel Arteta doesn’t see him part of his long-term plans.
Takehiro Tomiyasu started like a house on fire, but injuries and a dip in form disrupted the second half of his campaign, but still, Bellerin won’t be getting ahead of the Japan star anytime soon.
As for Emerson, the 2021 summer signing did see his form pick up towards the back end of the campaign, but for large parts, he struggled in north London.
There is talk that Antonio Conte wants to bring in another right-back this summer, with Djed Spence’s name being thrown about and the rumours that Spurs could pay £20 million for the Nottingham Forest promotion-winning star.
If that’s the case, where would that leave Emerson? Is it a case of one comes in, the other goes out? Or is Conte just bulking up his squad ahead of a return to Champions League football?
