According to Extra, the representatives of Andreas Pereira have sought more information about Crystal Palace, following an initial enquiry.

What’s the story?

Well, it was said that Fulham had seen a bid accepted from Manchester United for the 26-year-old.

However, the deal cannot proceed until Thursday, as Flamengo hold an option to buy the Brazil international until that date.

Despite that, Crystal Palace are still sniffing around, and Pereira’s agents are now said to be ‘consulting information’ about the south Londoners – they seem tempted to send their client to Selhurst Park.

John Textor – a shareholder in Brazilian giants Botafogo – is also part of the board at Crystal Palace, so the South American connections may have something to do with it.

Pereira spent last season on loan at Flamengo, although Extra believe he is already thinking about returning to England, and doesn’t believe the Serie A side will activate their purchase option.

Therefore, it seems Crystal Palace or Fulham will be his new home, with the latter currently more likely seeing as they have had a bid accepted by Manchester United.

When covering talk of the initial enquiry from Crystal Palace, we detailed how Patrick Vieira doesn’t really need another midfielder – especially with Cheick Doucoure on his way from RC Lens.

The Frenchman already has Eberechi Eze, Will Hughes, Jeffrey Schlupp, Luka Milivojevic, Cheikhou Kouyate, Jairo Riedewald and James McArthur to choose from, in what is a fairly bloated midfield department.

However, if Pereira does sign for Crystal Palace, he could be a decent addition – for the right price.

The Brazilian has Premier League experience, with 45 appearances in England’s top-flight under his belt, while his best years are still ahead of him at the age of 26.

We can’t see him getting much game time given the level of competition in midfield, but if Vieira signs him, then there is clearly a plan for Pereira at Selhurst Park.

Keep an eye on this saga, as more details should emerge from Thursday onwards.
