ACF Fiorentina are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso after the Serie A side missed out on the chance to sign Arsenal outcast Lucas Torreria on a permanent transfer.

According to La Nazione via GIFN, the Tuscan club are considering a move for the Spurs star, with Antonio Conte open to selling Lo Celso this summer as the Argentine failed to impress the Tottenham boss shortly after his appointment, with the midfielder spending the second half of last season with Villarreal on loan.

Lo Celso impressed during his brief stay in Spain, and now, Fiorentina are looking at signing the £55m Tottenham man as an alternative to Torreira, who was denied a move to La Viola after Arsenal refused to lower their asking price for the midfielder.

Despite pocketing a club-record fee in January for Dusan Vlahovic’s sale to Juventus, Fiorentina were unable to meet Arsenal’s reported £13m purchase option for the Uruguay international, with the Serie A side now looking at Lo Celso as a potential signing this summer.

Indeed, Tottenham are keen to sell Lo Celso this window and have already signed a potential replacement in Yves Bissouma this month, and Conte seems open to letting the South American leave for a massive loss just to get the midfielder off Spurs’ books.

With Fiorentina competing in Europe next season, Lo Celso could be open to signing for the Italian side this summer, yet with the club not willing to match Arsenal’s £13m fee for Torreira, it is likely that a loan move will be the most likely transfer involving the Tottenham man.

Lo Celso is ideal to replace Torreira at Fiorentina

Lo Celso’s move to Tottenham has never looked like working out, and it’s no surprise that the Argentine was exceptional for Villarreal in his loan spell in Spain last season, which is why Fiorentina could be an ideal move for the midfielder, especially to replace Torreira.

Whilst the midfielders are as different as you can get, Lo Celso has the quality to be an incredible asset in Serie A, with the division perfect for the Tottenham star’s style of play, which could result in a permanent move away from north London in 2023 if everything goes to plan.
