Nottingham Forest want Levi Colwill and may even attempt to sign the Chelsea defender on a permanent basis this summer.

Forest have secured a major summer signing having snapped up Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

More signings are expected at the City Ground this summer, with Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson a top target.

Steve Cooper will have his eyes on other exciting signings and it now seems that Chelsea defender Colwill is wanted.

Nottingham Forest want Levi Colwill

Forest appear to be targeting a left-sided centre back this summer despite the strong performances of Scott McKenna last season.

Cooper even struck to sign former England youth international Jonathan Panzo, but that hasn’t stopped rumours of a potential incoming.

Mainz defender Moussa Niakhate has been heavily linked but Forest could turn their attention elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that Forest are now interested in snapping up Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.

It’s stated that Chelsea expect to sign two centre backs this summer after Todd Boehly’s takeover.

Four clubs want to sign Colwill permanently with Brighton, Crystal Palace and Leicester City rivalling Forest for his signature.

Colwill, 19, has been coming up through the Chelsea ranks in recent times and shot to prominence during a loan spell with Huddersfield Town last season.

Colwill – somewhat ironically – scored an own goal in the Championship playoff final to send Forest to the Premier League.

If Forest get their way, Colwill will end up turning out in their famous red and white.

Arsenal enquired about Colwill in May but it now seems that the Gunners are focusing their left-sided centre back chase on Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.

That could leave the door open for Forest to swoop in and sign Colwill, but he is so highly-rated at Chelsea that a permanent deal could still very tricky.
