Tottenham are set to officially miss out on Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar as PSG are reportedly closer than ever to signing the Slovakian centre-back.
According to L’Equipe, the UEFA Champions League giants are inching towards completing a move to sign the Serie A star, with a €60m (£52m) offer set to be the deciding factor in negotiations between Inter and PSG, with Tottenham missing out on a player Fabio Paratici has been desperate to sign since joining the north London side.
Defence is a key area for Tottenham this summer, with Skriniar reportedly high up on Antonio Conte’s transfer list as a potential centre-back signing. However, the Italian manager must now look towards other targets with PSG set to sign the 27-year-old in the coming days.
Conte and Skriniar won the Serie A title in 2021 and were both huge reasons behind Inter’s immense rise back to the top of Italian and European football. However, PSG now look set to beat the north London side to the defender’s signature as the French giants aim to rebuild their squad.
Indeed, Skriniar as a new starting defender is a great first big signing for PSG this summer, though it is one that will infuriate Tottenham given how perfect the Inter star would have been for Conte next season as well as the club’s lofty ambitions under the Italian manager.
Whilst Tottenham have spent well this summer in signings such as Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma, Skriniar could have been a signing that takes Spurs’ goals for next season to a whole level, something supporters have been desperate to see under Conte’s managership.
PSG signing Skriniar could push Tottenham to making a similar move

Missing out on Skriniar is a blow for Tottenham, especially at a decent fee of £52m, yet PSG’s move for the defender could inspire Spurs, more than anything, to make a move for another top-quality centre-back that could transform Conte’s side for the better.
After all, Tottenham still have plenty of time to sign an alternative target, and with so much in the bank to spend on new players, Spurs have the potential to come back stronger from this set-back.
