Arsenal look set to sign Fabio Vieira this summer in one of the most left-field signings of the window so far.
Indeed, without any hint of speculation or rumour, news emerged this week that a deal was all-but done for the midfielder to come to the Emirates, and now, it looks as though his arrival is imminent.
Arsenal somehow managed to keep this one quiet, and according to Goal journalist Charles Watts, some within the club have found it funny how the club have managed to keep this one under the radar.
What’s been said?
Watts spoke about the view inside Arsenal about this secretive deal.
“You just don’t get transfers like this happening these days from out of the blue, and Arsenal have managed to keep it under wraps and fair play to them. I was speaking to someone at the club today and they were laughing about how they were speaking between themselves about keeping it all under the radar until it was completed,” Watts said.

Rare
As Watts says, you don’t really get transfers like this these days.
Usually, interest is leaked months in advance, and then every stage of the deal is reported on from enquiries, to bids, to medicals.
However, Arsenal have managed to get everything done without anyone catching wind, and that’s very exciting.
Indeed, while it’s easy to get caught up in all of the transfer speculation, Arsenal now know that the club can pull a surprise signing from out of nowhere at any given moment, and that makes the Gunners just that much more interesting to follow.
