Speaking on his YouTube channel, Charles Watts has provided an update on Arsenal and the impending signing of Fabio Vieira.

The Portuguese midfielder looks set to sign for Arsenal this summer, and Porto have already announced that a deal is in place for the 22-year-old to join the Gunners.

Everything seems to be moving very quickly on this one at the moment, and it stands to reason to believe that Arsenal may announce the arrival of this player very soon.

However, according to Watts, there are still a few formalities to go over and an announcement isn’t imminent, with the journalist stating that this could be one that isn’t announced until the start of next week.

What’s been said?

Watts spoke about Vieira.

“He is at London Colney right now, he flew in last night so he’s at the training ground at the moment doing all the medical checks. Although Porto have confirmed that an agreement has been reached, that doesn’t mean the transfer has been finalised, it hasn’t yet. Speaking to a couple of people today, I don’t think an announcement will be imminent,” Watts said.

“We might have to wait until the early stages of next week or even over the weekend, for Arsenal to confirm it. They need to wait for the medical checks and then legal agreements with the legal team and contracts to be signed, only at that point will Arsenal announce the transfer, so it may roll on for a few more days.”

Pretty much done

Regardless of when this one is announced, it looks as though Vieira will be Arsenal’s first signing of the summer.

Everything points towards this deal being pretty much done, and it’s time for Arsenal supporters to get excited.

The 22-year-old is one of the brightest young talents in Europe, and he could be the perfect understudy to Martin Odegaard for years to come.

Arsenal already had an exciting young core and it’s about to get even better.
