Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the race for Lisandro Martinez of Ajax, according to 90min.

90min have reported that Tottenham, Newcastle, Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan all are ‘keeping a close eye on the situation’ of Martinez, who wants to leave Ajax this summer.

The report mentions Arsenal’s interest in the 24-year-old defender as well.

The Athletic had earlier reported that Arsenal Technical Director Edu has enquired about signing the Argentina international centre-back this summer.

Tottenham and Newcastle threat for Arsenal in Lisandro Martinez race

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are a bigger threat for Arsenal than Newcastle United regarding Lisandro Martinez.

Yes, Newcastle are a big club who are established in the Premier League, and they have wealthy owners in PIF as well.

However, we do not think that Martinez will be keen on moving to a Newcastle team who are unlikely to even challenge for the Premier League top six next season.

Especially when Tottenham can offer him the chance to play in the Champions League, and Arsenal will have Europa League football next season.

We think that Tottenham are a bigger threat to Arsenal for Martinez.

Spurs have a world-class manager in Antonio Conte, and they will also play in the Champions League next season.
