According to The Guardian, Aston Villa have an eye on Gareth Bale after he was released by Real Madrid.

The Welshman is arguably the most high-profile free agent on the market right now, and he’s also arguably the most unpredictable player on the planet when it comes to his next transfer.

He’s good enough to play for any team in the world, but due to his attitude towards the game, there’s a belief that he may drop to play for a lower level team, with even Cardiff City and Getafe being linked.

Of course, there is also Premier League interest in Bale with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle reportedly keen, but now, Aston Villa are reportedly keeping an eye on this situation.

Villa know how to reignite a fledgling career, just look at how much Philippe Coutinho has improved since arriving at Villa Park, and the Midlands club could repeat the trick here with Bale.

Bale would, of course, be one of Villa’s best players, but whether or not the Tottenham man will apply himself on a weekly basis upon joining the Villans is another question entirely.

The ‘unbelievable’ attacker is quite clearly on relaxation mode as he’s prioritising the World Cup with Wales this winter, and there’s reason to believe he wouldn’t be fully committed to any club he joins as he looks to avoid injury and stay fit so he can play in Qatar.

This is a move that could either backfire or pay off massively for Villa.
