Fabio Vieira to Arsenal is seemingly a done deal.
That is according to Porto who revealed this morning that they had sold the 22-year-old to Arsenal in a £34 million transfer.
There’s been no confirmation from the Gunners’ side as of yet.
Before Thursday, there was virtually zero speculation about the North Londoners signing the Portuguese playmaker.
It’s really a surprise transfer to say the least and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal director Edu had been conducting ‘secret negotiations’ with the player and his entourage about making this deal possible.
Romano told his YouTube channel: “Everything is really close to being completed. It’s a surprising move. We were not expecting this move. It’s out of nowhere. Edu Gaspar has been really good with these secret negotiations with Fabio Vieira, his agents and Porto.”
For £34 million, this is one hell of a bargain.
Earlier on Friday, HITC Sport wrote about how Vieira – who bagged more assists than Kevin de Bruyne last season – was a magnificent addition by Edu.
Despite being only 22, Vieira seems to have the sort of game-changing productivity that Arsenal badly need.
Yes, Martin Odegaard is excellent on his day, but Mikel Arteta has always needed another source of creativity and thankfully, the Brazilian director seems to have found one for him.
