CalcioMercato claim that Southampton are close to completing a £9million move to sign Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg – amid reports that the likes of Tottenham, Everton and West Ham are all interested.
Svanberg, 23, joined Bologna from Malmo in 2018 – four years ago and has since starred in Italy. He has clocked up 123 appearances for Bologna, having a hand in 17 goals. Six of those goal involvements came in 2021-22.

Not only has he impressed in Italy, but he has impressed alongside Dejan Kulusevski for Sweden – clocking up 21 caps. But he is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Bologna and Premier League clubs are keen.
Reports earlier this summer said that Tottenham, Everton and West Ham have all shown interest in Svanberg. But the latest report says Southampton are set to table a £9million offer and are closing in on a transfer.
Southampton close to £9million move for Svanberg
Svanberg is a top player and for £9million, he is a bargain for the Saints. A real coup, for the South Coast club. Should West Ham, Everton or Tottenham regret not moving earlier for the Sweden midfielder?
Tottenham are about to bring in Yves Bissouma, and could also sign Christian Eriksen. So they hardly need Svanberg. But Everton and West Ham could really do with an attacking midfielder such as Svanberg.
Especially for a fee of just £9million. A move to West Ham would also offer Svanberg the chance to play in Europe. But Southampton have moved quickly and he could use the Saints as a springboard to bigger clubs.
