According to Corriere dello Sport (print edition April 7th, page 21), West Ham have lodged an enquiry for Tottenham target Mattias Svanberg.
What’s the story?
Well, West Ham are looking to get one over on their London rivals by signing the Sweden international, who is also wanted by Everton.
Svanberg – who is valued at £17m, according to Sempre Milan – has impressed in Italy for Bologna, attracting Premier League interest as a result of his fine performances.
The 23-year-old has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals while also providing two assists.
Acting as a deep-lying midfielder, Svanberg has been the star of the show most weeks, and Manchester City are even said to be admirers of him too.
Clearly, the Swede is a fine player, who looks likely to have a big future if he completes a move to the Premier League.
West Ham need Mattias Svanberg more than Tottenham & Everton

In our view, David Moyes needs to sign Svanberg, as West Ham really aren’t blessed with many options in central midfield.
Aside from the formidable duo of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, the east Londoners don’t have much quality in that area, so Svanberg would be a necessary signing.
With another campaign of Europa League football looking likely, Moyes will need more depth to cope with the demand, especially if his side suffer an injury or two.

At 23, Svanberg is at a good age to move, as he has plenty of time on his side to improve, while also being ready to make an impact immediately.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Premier League clubs fight it out for his signature.
