Everton want Rodrigo Becao and have now sounded out the defender ahead of a potential summer move from Udinese.

The Toffees look set to sign James Tarkowski on a free transfer from Burnley but that doesn’t mean they defensive recruitment is now over.

Yerry Mina looks likely to move on this summer and that means Everton will need another centre back.

The plan would likely be for any new recruit to compete with Tarkowski, Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate.

Everton are going with Premier League experience in Tarkowski but could now look towards the Italian market.

Everton want Rodrigo Becao

The Mirror report that Everton want to sign Udinese defender Becao this summer.

It’s understood that contact has been made with Everton sounding out whether Becao would be interested in the move.

Negotiations between the clubs haven’t yet begun but Becao is allegedly valued at around €20million (£17million).

Becao, 26, may not be a familiar name to some Premier League fans.

The 6ft 3in centre back started out with Bahia in his native Brazil before spending the 2018-19 season on loan at CSKA Moscow in Russia

Udinese swooped in the summer of 2019 and Becao has become a regular for the Serie A club.

Everton won’t be alone in the race for the Brazilian defender though as they face a Premier League battle for Becao.

TuttoUdinese claimed earlier this month that Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on signing Becao this summer.

Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte will know the Italian market very well and may well have picked out Becao as a player with potential for the Premier League.

Everton have followed suit but will hope that Becao is a little better than the last Udinese defender they signed.

Per Kroldrup arrived back in 2005 and played just one league game before being sent back to Italy with Fiorentina.

The mere notion of targeting an Udinese defender again will leave Everton fans fearful but Becao is now a name to keep a close eye on.
