‘Behind the scenes there’s a rumour’: Hutchison makes worrying Liverpool transfer claim

Don Hutchison has claimed that ‘behind the scenes there is a rumour’ at Liverpool that Mo Salah will leave next summer on a free transfer, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

With Sadio Mane seemingly heading for the Anfield exit door, Hutchison shared that Liverpool didn’t want to lose both their star men to free transfers next summer.

Whilst Salah will stay put on Merseyside for next season, the 30-year-old still hasn’t agreed on a new contract.

The same for Mane regarding his contract, but he is heading to Bayern Munich, so the Reds will get some form of transfer fee for his talents.

Either way, this is what former Liverpool midfielder Hutchison had to say about worrying behind-the-scenes rumours involving Salah.

“Behind the scenes, there is a rumour,” said Hutchison. “I am not sure it’s that wide off the mark.

“But I don’t think Liverpool wanted to lose Mo Salah because he is staying at the club next season.

“The rumour is that he might not then stay on at Liverpool, so they could then potentially lose him on a free transfer next summer.

“I think Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp couldn’t afford to lose Mo Salah and Sadio Mane on free-transfers next season.”

WILL SALAH SIGN A NEW LIVERPOOL CONTRACT?

Forget Darwin Nunez or Mane leaving, or even Jurgen Klopp extending his stay at the club recently, it’s Salah that the Liverpool fans want to be tied up for the long-term.

And in truth, if that happens, then it could be the best piece of business those on Merseyside could do heading into next season and beyond.

As of today, Liverpool’s Egyptian king could argue that he gets into the club’s greatest-ever XI, which is some going and it just goes to show his value.

But if they do indeed lose him next summer, then it’s not going to be an easy one for the fans to accept, especially with Mane heading out.
