Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham’s interest in Ilya Zabarnyi and how highly-rated the teenager is.
It was reported last week that Spurs were weighing up a move for the 19-year-old, and now Gold has gone on the record to discuss just how talented some within the game believe this young man can be.
According to Gold, everyone he’s spoken to, including some scouts, have stated that Zabarnyi has the ability to be a real star one day.
What’s been said?
Gold spoke about Zabarnyi.
“A new one for you that I learned this week. Spurs are really closely looking at the Ukraine international Ilya Zabarnyi. He’s very highly-rated honestly. A few clubs are looking at him as a big potential star. 19 years old, he can play on either side of defence. He signed a five year deal in October, but things are so unknown about what’s happening in Ukraine at the moment, it’s so difficult,” Gold said.
“From a football point of view, that makes things unsure with him. Keep an eye on that one, he’s a player Spurs really like, he’s very highly-rated, everyone I’ve asked about him like scouts and people like that they all say he could be a proper talent in football.”

Onto a winner
If scouts and experts within football think that Zabarnyi could be a star, then Spurs may be onto a winner here.
Admittedly, we’ve not seen all that much of the young Ukrainian to date, but with 19 international caps to his name before the age of 20, it’s fair to say that this young man has what it takes to be a star.
Of course, Spurs will also need a more established defender brought in if they are to challenge for top honours next term, but signing Zabarnyi could be a great move in the long-term.
