Tottenham defender Joe Rodon is mimicking Gareth Bale’s career of late, in terms of him being a star for Wales, but a no-show at club level.
For Bale, there are other reasons why he has played more for Wales than Real Madrid in recent years.
But for Rodon, who made a £15 million switch to Spurs in 2020 (Sky Sports), it’s seemingly down to the 24-year-old not being picked or fancied by his coaches, whether it be Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason or now Antonio Conte.

Well, on Saturday, Rodon sent out another message that he is worthy of more minutes in Tottenham colours.
He helped Wales record a 1-1 draw against the world’s number one ranked team in Belgium, who had the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, goalscorer Youri Tielemans and Leandro Trossard playing for them.
Just like with Conte on the domestic stage, Wales boss Rob Page likes to deploy a back three, with Rodon at the heart of the defence.
The Welsh media, after their UEFA Nations League tie against the Belgians, questioned why Rodon doesn’t play more for Tottenham.
They made it clear that the former Swansea City man is ‘so composed on the ball’ and ‘very much the leader of the backline’, as reported by Wales Online.
Rodon was handed a 7 out of 10 rating for yesterday’s performance, with Ben Davies being dubbed the ‘star man’ and handed an 8 out of ten display.
Nonetheless, this is what the Welsh media had to say about Rodon’s latest performance:
“Always looks so composed on the ball. Very much the leader of the Welsh backline. This writer will echo Gareth Bale’s words this week – why isn’t he playing more for Tottenham? Like Mepham, could do little when Belgium turned it on for Tielemans’ strike. Header late on sailed over.”

WILL RODON LEAVE TOTTENHAM?
There are rumours circulating that Conte would be willing to let Rodon leave the club this summer, and in truth, with the 2022 World Cup around the corner, he probably has to.
Rodon can’t afford to be warming Tottenham’s bench next season because he will go into the November tournament half-cooked.
Plus, it doesn’t help his cause that the likes of Pau Torres are being linked to the club, with suggests that Conte is looking for a proven centre-back this summer.
