Trevor Sinclair has told talkSPORT that he thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool would sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City if he became available.

The former Manchester City winger believes that Liverpool fans would welcome back Sterling, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, with open arms.

The England international left Liverpool for City in 2015 under controversial circumstances.

Sterling has been linked with moves away from Premier League champions City in the summer transfer window, with The Telegraph reporting that Chelsea are keen on the £300,000-a-week (Spotrac) star.

Sinclair told talkSPORT: “I think they’d have him. I think Liverpool fans would have him back because they’ve seen what he’s won at Manchester City and the way that he’s conducted himself.

“Obviously it was not the greatest way to leave the football club and there was a lot of animosity between the club, the fans and Raheem.

“But whether Raheem goes back there? He might be a little bit scared by the way he was treated when he left. But I think Liverpool would have him.”

Raheem Sterling from Manchester City to Liverpool won’t happen

In our view, a potential transfer for Raheem Sterling from Liverpool to Manchester City in the summer transfer window is not going to happen.

City will simply not sell the 27-year-old to their main domestic rivals.

Now, you could argue that Sterling could run down his contract at City and then move to Liverpool on a free transfer.

However, we do not think that Liverpool will sign the English star because of the manner of his departure.

Moreover, Liverpool are well stocked in attack, especially with Benfica striker Darwin Nunez about to move to Anfield.
