Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sven Botman from Lille in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

90min have reported that Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea all have enquired about signing the Dutch defender from Lille this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Lille, but Newcastle United are confident of getting a deal done for the 22-year-old, according to the report.

Sven Botman would be great for Tottenham Hotspur

In our view, Lille central defender Sven Botman would be a very good signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

We know that Tottenham are looking for a left-footed centre-back.

Botman does fit the bill.

Tottenham reportedly tried to sign the 22-year-old in the January transfer window, but a move did not happen.

Spurs will play in the Champions League next season and also have a word-class manager in Antonio Conte in charge now.

Botman is 22 now, so he is going to improve and develop in the coming years.

The youngster is rated very highly, with journalist Duncan Castles saying on The Transfer Window Podcast in December 2020 that Jose Fonte thinks that Botman is better than Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk.

Castles said: “Fonte has played with an array of top-class centre-backs in his career including Virgil van Dijk, Toby Alderweireld, Pepe in the Portuguese national team and Gabriel last season who is now at Arsenal.

“From what I understand of Fonte’s impression of Botman, he thinks he’s the best of all of them. He describes him as a machine and a man who doesn’t make mistakes.”
