Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Giovanni Simeone, and Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the Argentina international striker will come as mixed news for the Emirates Stadium faithful.
Arsenal’s interest in Giovanni Simeone
Earlier this week, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Arsenal are interested in signing Simeone, who spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Hellas Verona from Cagliari.
The Gunners are looking for strikers this summer, and their search has led them to the 26-year-old.
Impressive stats
The Argentine scored 17 goals and gave five assists in Serie A this past season.
Simeone scored six goals in the league in 2020-21 and 12 goals in Serie A in 2019-20.

Mixed news for Gunners
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano now has an update on the situation of the son of Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone.
Romano has reported on Twitter that the Argentina international striker is available for €20 million (£17 million) and could be on the move.
Now, that is the good news for Arsenal.
However, the problem is that the striker wants to play in the Champions League next season, according to Romano.
And that is a blow for the Gunners.
Arsenal narrowly missed out on the fourth and final Champions League spot in the Premier League table this past season to bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Mikel Arteta’s side will play in the Europa League next season.
