Speaking on The Done Deal Show, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing Liverpool and their apparent interest in Christian Pulisic.
The Reds are about to lose one of their most important players as Sadio Mane looks set for a move to Bayern Munich, and if Mane goes, the Merseyside club will have to replace him.
Liverpool have recently been linked with a move for Pulisic, and according to Jacobs, Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the Chelsea star, with the German believing that the winger has a lot of potential.
However, the journalist quickly poured cold water on this speculation, stating that he asked a senior source within the club about their interest, and it was dismissed as nonsense.
What’s been said?
Jacobs spoke about Pulisic and Liverpool.
“I think if Pulisic is to depart Chelsea he’ll be heading to Serie A, not to another team in the Premier League. From Pulisic and his people’s perspective, Liverpool seems like a great fit, and make no mistake, Klopp is an admirer and sees the potential, but the notion that he’s seen as Liverpool as the replacement for Mane is incorrect,” Jacobs said.
“Having put that link directly to a Liverpool source at a very senior level with huge knowledge of their recruitment, the response I got in one word was ‘nonsense’, so I don’t think that Liverpool are considering Pulisic in the context of Mane or outside the context of Mane.”

Better out there
With all due respect to Pulisic, he’s not good enough to replace Sadio Mane.
Mane has been one of the Premier League’s deadliest attackers for years at this point, he’s a Golden Boot winner who hits double figures in every single season.
Meanwhile, Pulisic has just 19 league goals to his name after three seasons with Chelsea, and, quite simply, that’s not what Liverpool will be looking for from their Mane replacement.
Pulisic is certainly talented, but he’s not the right fit for the Reds right now.
