Alan Brazil thinks it’s ‘advantage Manchester City’ if Liverpool sign Darwin Nunez this summer, as he told talkSPORT on Thursday morning.

The former striker thinks it means that Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Sadio Mane will head for the exit door, as a result of Nunez’s arrival.

Liverpool are seemingly edging closer to breaking their club transfer record on Nunez, with suggestions that an £85 million offer has been tabled for the 22-year-old Benfica star.

Manchester City have already brought in their attackers for next season, with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez signed up for the new campaign.

But despite Liverpool fans riding a wave with these Nunez rumours, Brazil expressed worry at what that means for their current stars if that ‘£75 million transfer’ takes place.

“Around £75 million? (For Nunez),” said Brazil. “Does that tell us that Salah and Mane are off?

“Can I just say, if that’s the case and I hate to say it, but that’s advantage Manchester City.

“This kid is obviously a top player, but I just think it’s advantage Manchester City again, losing Salah and Mane.

“Look at Bobby’s (Firmino) record at Anfield, it’s not good. Great player. But as a goalscorer, most of them are away from home.”

LIVERPOOL’S FORWARD LINE IS AT A CROSSROADS

It’s not a case of Liverpool’s forward line isn’t performing, it’s actually been as good as it has ever been.

The issue is that two of their key stars – Mane and Salah – could be gone next summer when their contracts expire.

Salah has made it clear that he will be at the club next season, but will he sign a new deal in the meantime?

The one that looks most likely to leave now is Mane, with Bayern Munich interested, and if that’s the case, then it puts more pressure on the likes of Luis Diaz and Nunez to score the goals because the Senegalese star will leave a big hole in the team.
